Knowledge is Power: A Comprehensive Review of the Chrome Extension - Password Manager Pro

With the surge of online activities, maintaining privacy , security and anonymity has never been more critical. One tool that promises to help with this is Password Manager Pro, a Chrome extension designed to provide secure password storage and management. As a top chrome extension, it has amassed an array of users. However, its current aggregate rating stands at a meager 2.97 out of 5. This article seeks to understand this low rating, informing you on whether it's worth your time and investment.

Understanding Password Manager Pro

Password Manager Pro is a privacy tool designed as a vault for storing and managing shared sensitive information such as passwords, documents, and digital identities for enterprises. With it, you can eliminate password fatigue, automate frequent password changes, provide preventive and detective security controls, and meet security audits and regulatory compliance such as SOX, HIPAA, and PCI. However, despite its lofty promise, user reviews paint a different picture.

Peeling Back the Layers: User Reviews

From the numerous user reviews, it's evident that the Chrome password manager extension has both its merits and demerits. Some users like Marlyn Tobilla and Riley Jones have shown a degree of appreciation for the chrome password security tool. Tobilla is optimistic about their first-time use, and Jones appreciates the concept behind the extension, despite its clunky execution.

However, a significant number of users have expressed dissatisfaction with the chrome security extension. Mohamed Elsayed, for instance, laments about the need for constant login, even when already logged into the main portal. Simon Lewis shares the same complaint and adds that finding the login you want takes several steps, indicating a lack of intuitiveness. Lucas also points out an annoying feature where you have to mark "Prevent extension from prompting to add accounts" every time you open the browser.

Praveen Dodamani and Kevin Roth have both experienced technical issues with the extension, with Dodamani noting that it stopped working after opening the web page once. Roth has also reported a recurring error in the console on every page load. Dmitry Titov adds to the criticism, stating that the search function is inefficient as it doesn't support simultaneous search for needed CI + login.

Final Verdict: Is the Password Manager Pro worth it?

From our analysis, it's clear that Password Manager Pro has failed to deliver on its promise to some of its users. The recurring complaints about constant login needs, lack of intuitiveness, and technical issues paint a picture of a chrome privacy extension that still needs a lot of work. While the idea behind it is commendable, its execution is lacking substantially. For users seeking a chrome password manager extension that provides secure browsing, online privacy, and web security, it might be best to look elsewhere, at least until Password Manager Pro irons out its wrinkles.

Thanks, ManageEngine, the extension needs more develop, why I need to login every time even if i'm already login to the main portal! Also, I'm using OTP auth, i need to type code manually, if i click anywhere then i'll lose the current session!

Marlyn Tobilla

This is my first time for this but will see what happens next..Thank you

Riley Jones

The app constantly asks if I would like to save the password to the personal vault, even though I'm using the app to sign in. Auto-populates on maybe 2/20 sites I have passwords saved for, all the rest I have to click the personal drop down and choose the password I want to use. Also logs out a lot. Still definitely clunky, but I do love the idea of saving department wide admin logins for vendor accounts, etc.

Burhan Uddin

Does not work with Federated login.

Md. Burhan Uddin

Does not work with Federated login.

Simon Lewis

Not intuitive or quick, have to login each day. Takes several steps to find the login you want. Really needs work - they should take a look at the competition for inspiration e.g. Password1 which is slick, one-mouse-movement etc.)

Pete Muney

very ordinary product.

Lucas

You must mark "Prevent extension from prompting to add accounts" every time that we open the browser. Discouraging

Praveen Dodamani

not working after opening the web page once.It was very good earlier, please fix it at the earliest

Kevin Roth

Adds an error to the console on every page load: Error in event handler for (unknown): TypeError: Cannot read property 'status' of undefined at chrome-extension://hfdkpbblioghdghhkdppipefbchgpohn/js/PMP_CS.js:130:26 Not the best integration, either. LastPass extension is way better.

Michal Hauzirek

Requests to the Password Manager API originating from this extension contain plaintext user password in query string. That does not seem to be the best approach for an application to which you trust your precious passwords.
